This film is also known as Äppelkriget. This Swedish satire/fantasy presciently lampoons the high-minded scheme of a multinational conglomerate to transform a large section of Sweden into a nature preserve and vacation resort, long before such issues arose in the development of Disney World/Paris. The corporation intends to transform a region of Sweden into "Angel Territory." The locals look favorably on the idea until they begin to consider who would benefit from this change. As that would only be those who are the already wealthy land and business owners, they come to oppose the scheme. The mystical beasts of Sweden, including giants, enlist on the side of these people, and battle the corporation, the rich of the region, and dragons.

My first order with moviedetective.net was The Apple War DVD.  I have been looking for that film since my husband and I saw it twice in Westwood when it first came out, but it was never available before.  The film plays beautifully and was as enjoyable as I remembered.

I also appreciated the response I received when I had questions about shipping arrangements and the delivery date. The DVD arrived exactly as promised.  

If anyone has a film that you would dearly love to own but haven't been able to find, I recommend that you try your luck with Moviedetective.net.  They might just have what you want!

I have been trying to locate a DVD for the Apple War for two decades. When I saw this listing, I was skeptical but the price was decent so I risked it. The movie arrived fast and the DVD was perfect. Thank you!!

I am so grateful to MovieDetective.net for finally making this classic available with English subtitles after so many decades.  I was highly impressed with the quality of the DVD+R.  I was expecting a mediocre pan & scan at best, but this is the real thing in blazing color and sound, just as I saw it in the theater in the 1970s.  Highly satisfied!
