A wonderful comedy(!) from the USSR. Very clever, quite funny, and a fascinating glimpse into Soviet culture. A tyrannical camp counselor who doesn't like kids but knows what's best for them is up against a community of kids and counselors who protect a spirited little rule-breaker. Says a lot, I think, as a satirical parody of the relationship between the public and their leaders. And what a beautiful, funny, surreal, uplifting, even touching ending. I was smiling hard.
