As usual, the great humanistic Italian director Ermanno Olmi presents a character caught up in modern, routine, commercialized life, and throws him a curve -- a situation where he is forced to take responsibility for his own actions and empathize with those around him. And even though he begins with characters and an office setting that you don't want to care about, it isn't long before you're drawn in. The pace is fairly slow; the drama is all internal, but Olmi makes it matter. The title translates to "One Fine Day".
