The Nicholas Brothers Are Enough To Sell It

This is a wonderful clear, quality print of a hugely enjoyable Sonja Henie musical, likely one of two best, and that's because there's minimal dippy romance and a maximum of guest performers from Milton Berle to the inimitable Nicholas Brothers, likely the best hoofers in Hollywood, always only "guests" as black performers generally weren't allowed to star in mainstream musicals because of the Deep South market. But there they are--and add plenty of Glenn Miller and the stunningly photographed skating of the star--it's wonderfully entertaining from start to finish!

This fluff from Fox is a delight. Glenn Miller and his band appeared in two feature films, and this is one of them, and more than one of his hits get the full treatment.

Forget about the story. All the performances are great. The Glen Miller Orchestra (with Tex Beneke) never better, Sonja Henie shows why she was the greatest skater (and beautiful) ever. Then we had the great Nicholas Brother acrobatic dancing & Dorothy Dandredge backing them up. Wonderful!
