5 of 5 brilliant March 25, 2022
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Fleetwood, PA United States
A brilliant film by Christian Jacques made during the Vichy government period 1940-1945 when the French were making films exactly the same as they had always made them, but with the help of advanced German cinematic technology. These films were better and greater films than they had ever made before, and some of the greatest films of all time.Don't miss this one.Lucien Coedel is marvelous as the bellman,a great actor. He is the titular character of the film and the main character in the film, yet he is mysteriously listed near the bottom in all accounts of the cast, wikipedia, etc. Why?Could it be something to do with his death two years later?
