Percy Winthram, a 39-year-old virginal bachelor who is an avid football fan, comes to London to see the Cup Final. Before his scheduled bus trip back to Manchester, he joins his friends Ginger, Chalky, Ozzie, and Fred, a rowdy group of Manchester millworkers, for a night on the town. In a Soho striptease club, Ginger insults Cyrenne, an attractive, blonde, Italian bar hostess/prostitute, and soon Percy's companions trick him into wagering his motorcycle against £50 that he will take her home and sleep with her. Cyrenne overhears this and playfully lets Percy escort her home...
