This movie, based on a famous novel by Gustav Meyrink, is fascinating, but not easy. It left me in the need of watch it again. I have not read the novel and maybe I should do it in order to grasp the movie. It’s about a man who, by mistake, put on another man’s hat and when he goes home he sleeps. Then: a) he dreams; b) he suffers hallucinations; c) he goes through the most strange adventures. Take your pick. There is one character who represents Good and another one Evil. The main character is attracted to two women, one innocent and the other with a loose moral. The scenarios have expressionist decorations, and the photography is impressing with alarming shadows appearing here and there. Well, I’m without words.
