In Italian with English subtitles. Widescreen. Also known as The Inheritance. This is the original 121 minute cut. As the film is in Italian, Quinn is dubbed.

Directed by Mauro Bolognini. Rome, 1880. Gregorio Ferramonti (Anthony Quinn) has decided to close the family bakery. Then he tells his sons Pippo (Gigi Proietti) and Mario (Fabio Testi), and daughter Teta (Adriana Asti) that they will have to fend for themselves. But Irene (Dominique Sanda), Pippo's beautiful, calculating new wife, is determined to inherit the family fortune, and uses the guise of reconciling old family feuds to do so.

5 of 5 L'Eredità Ferramonti January 31, 2020
Reviewer: Fiona Welburn from London, London United Kingdom
Could not find this film in the UK, and found it here with English subtitles.  Good quality, quick delivery and will certainly be making other purchases, because here there are so many films that we've found almost impossible to source.  Thank you.

5 of 5 Only US print subtitled and uncut available April 6, 2018

Accolades to Movie Detective for offering the only uncut and subtitled in English print of this neglected masterpiece. Prior print that was available in US market was dubbed-and cut considerably. Highly recommend. Dominique Sanda was brilliant under Bolognini's direction. A testament to her unearthly beauty and screen legacy.

5 of 5 Always entertaining. March 13, 2015

Thanks MovieDetective for another excellent period drama from Mauro Bolognini. These films don't ever disappoint. In this one Dominique Sanda is marvelous, and we see a stunning re-creation of Rome. The subtitler decided  we don't need to know lots of dialogue, particularly early in the film, but this passing annoyance aside, the film offers much visual and dramatic enjoyment. Highly recommended.
