In Italian with English subtitles. This is a 2-DVD set consisting of both parts of this Italian telling of Les Misérables. Part one is Caccia all'Uomo (Manhunt); part two is Tempesta su Parigi (Storm Over Paris). Running time for each part is about 90 minutes.

In part one, Caccia all'Uomo, Jean Valjean (Gino Cervi), pursued through the years for a minor infraction by the implacable policeman Javert (Hans Hinrich), attempts to create a life for himself and for his adopted daughter Cosette amid the revolutionary struggles of France. In part two, Tempesta su Parigi, Valjean has established a good life for himself and his daughter, but Javert continues his dogged pursuit, leading to an inevitable final confrontation.

A wonderful DVD of the film! A rather strange adaptation with a very violent iteration of Jean Valjean, but, overall, still very entertaining.

An effective rendering,in two distinct parts, of Victor Hugo's epic Les Miserables.The two main characters are very,very ably portrayed by Gino Cervi and Hans? Giovanni? Hinrich and in the case of this film,as a third main character,Thernardier,Luigi Pavese gives a splendid  performance.Valentina Cortesa playing a dual role of both mother and daughter is wonderful as usual.Historical footnote:Marcello Mastroianni appears for 1 line in 1scenHtg
