A full-frame VHS transfer. This satire takes a sharp poke at the intrinsic laziness of British aristocracy who would rather die of starvation than perform an honest day's work. The tale begins when a destitute nobleman conspires to murder his rich Canadian uncle for the inheritance. Unfortunately he continually fails in his efforts to off him. Instead he winds up killing his own family one-by-one. Look quickly for a young Michael Caine.

5 of 5 ...Or Die Trying October 14, 2022

The Charles Addams poster-art in the listing perfectly expresses the clever black humor of this merrily murderous little film. Talented Nigel Patrick does well on both sides of the camera. Too bad he didn't direct very many films. 6'1" Michael Caine ringing the church bell with 5' Ian Wilson may be my new favorite Michael Caine scene ever.

Mid 50's British comedy. Great cast; how could you go wrong with the inimitable Charles Coburn and the great Wendy Hiller?
