This is a truly wonderful film and I can't praise it enough. It has all the elements that make a GREAT movie. Considering the time in which is was made it is something of a miracle that it came off at all. I own 3 copies of this film, but the one from Movie Detective is by far the best, AND it is - for once - the complete version of 136 minutes. The acting is outstanding, first and foremost by the great Paula Wessely. Then you have the two Hoerbigers, Paul and Attila. The photography couldn't be better, especially where light and shadow are concerned. It ranges from grim [at times] to very, very lovely. If you are from Europe this film is an absolute must for your collection. You'll love it.
