Surprisingly excellent Jacques Deray crime film.Jean Paul Belmondo is at his best, aided and abetted by a marvelous supporting cast including the beautiful Sophie Daumier,Akim Tamiroff,Gabrielle Ferzetti,Analia Gade, and a young and surpisingly beautiful Geraldine Chaplin. One flaw in the film is the nonchalant handling by Belmondo of the captive husband Ferzetti. The husband had two excellent opportunities to clobber Belmondo when Belmondo was sitting at the kitchen table and again when Belmondo was standing around admiring some paintings, and no reason not to try.Belmondo's gun was nowhere reachable by Belmondo either time.
