Transfer is sharp and clear, English subtitles are very well done and complete, audio is crisp - overall a high quality print of this classic film. As for the film itself, it truly deserves to be called a classic. The acting is superb, the soundtrack perfect, the script brilliant - so brilliant in fact that I still cannot understand how this film passed the Soviet censors in 1966. The film has some genuinely funny comedic moments while at the same time being a subversive critique of socialism. If you bear in mind the era in which this was made there are times when you will find even more humor than expected. The narrator is an incredible actor - you have to hear the tone of voice in which he says certain lines to believe it. And it has one of the most unique car chases in film history! Have been looking for this film for years with English subtitles - finally found it. Art at its finest. Highly recommended!

Unlike the dogmatic films of Stalin's era, this movie almost delights in life's absurdities. It's not all that funny in the "ha-ha" sense, but it is one amusing combination of crime-movie and comedy.

Director Eldar Ryazanov's charming comedies are superbly crafted tales which are universally appealing. Woven into his films all the nuances & eccentricity of our humanity. Beware of the Car is a wonderful example of the directors unique percetive quality and style. Excellent Print! Many Thanks to MD...
