This movie is the most accurate in detail of ancient Egypt. Costuming is stunning & this particular disc from Movie Detective is the clearest images I have ever seen of this movie. This is not a Hollywood fake look into Egypt but rather a sobering realistic depiction of life in ancient Egypt. The cinematography is excellent. Highly recommend this disc because of the English subtitles and foreign spoken language. That is how I prefer my foreign movies to be and I own over a hundred different foreign movies.

Interesting but strange!

I see this more of a genre movie rather than an historical one. Shame about the absence of strong eye make up for both men and women. They obviously used the original architecture, would have been nice to see replications of the garish originals!

GREAT COPY OF THIS RARELY SEEN MOVIE

I haven't seen this astonishing film since its release in the late 60s - and then, it had been scissored down to around 100 minutes. The Movie Detective copy, as far as I can tell, restores it to almost original length of close to 135. The copy is steady and clear, the director's intended color palette beautifully evident. After the glossy, polished-floor excesses of such movies as LAND OF THE PHARAOHS and THE EGYPTIAN, FARAON gives the impression of utter credibility of the era and its people.

I already had a beautiful Polish DVD of the film, but needed subtitles (although a lot was manifestly clear without them).
