This film is also known as The Dying Swan and Ballerina. Young dance student Janine Charrat idolizes her teacher-role-model Yvette Chauvire, and will do anything to help Chauvire further herself. Thus, when rival ballerina Mia Slavenska lands a much-coveted role, Charrat arranges an accident causing Slavenska to break her leg. The girl comes to regret her rash behavior when it appears as though Slavenska will never dance again...

I was taken to see this movie as a child, and always wanted to revisit it.  I was told about your company by one of my sophisticated grandsons, and found this movie in your inventory.  Thanks so much from this senior for a visit to a fond memory, and for the opportunity to own this dvd.

Excellent service from MovieDetective.  My order was shipped immediately and received in 5 or so days.  I had some questions and Chris responded immediately, regardless that it was a Sunday that I contacted him/her.  The quality of the DVD is quite good.

5 of 5 Life in a wedge March 27, 2016

A good print of an excellent film. Very well written, acted and directed. A very moving, well-paced drama that almost feels like a fantasy. Taps into the mind and methods of children like not many films have been able to do. Benoit-Levy's direction is very smooth and understated. Slightly reminiscent of Jean Vigo or even Jean Renoir's mid-30's films. Co-scripted by Benoit-Levy's longtime working partner Marie Epstein, sister of Jean Epstein. Wonderful movie.
