A drama about the Carmélites order of nuns is set during the French Revolution. A young woman seeks refuge with the Carmélites because she is terrified of dying during the upheaval. 5 of 5 Another version of a great drama November 28, 2022

SF Opera recently performed Poulenc's Dialogue of the Carmelites, and in connection with this I came across this 1960 film. I had never heard of it before. It's not the opera, but a drama written by Georges Bernanos; Poulenc adapted his text for his opera. It is well worth watching, and I'm a little surprised that the film is scarce. Kudos to moviedetective for making it available.
